Mom's Suprise 60th Birthday Party

The birthday girlWell we did it! We suprised my mom for her 60th Birthday! It was very stressful but well worth all of it! First I have to tell you... Steph knew before she was deployed that she would have 4 days off before she flew to Iraq. So, we started planning the party back in March. When the monday came for everyone to arrive in town, it ended up being stressful! Steph's first flight was delayed 3 hours for a broken overhead door-that they ended up duct taping! So, she missed her next flight and barely made it to the party. Eric, got stuck in Denver and had to stay there over night. His first flight was delayed 3 hours because they didn't have a pilot! he didnt make it to the party-which we were all pretty sad about! Andrew and his family got there monday safely. And Kevin did not even try to come. He lives too far away. Anyways, Irene helped me out so much with the planning and prepartions! It was so nice to have her! Oh... also, my mom wanted to go to dance that night and it took me all day to convince her not to go and that we need to go to irene's house for a "family dinner". She is so stubborn sometimes! :)
Ok.. on to the party! It was a HAWAIIAN themed. We had all sorts of yummy food including Hawaiian macaroni salad and 2 cakes-guava and coconut!

We finally arrived... and she was so suprised. Andrew and Steph were hiding and so we had her sit down and I was a little scattered brained about trying to introduce them. They finally came up behind her and yelled SUPRISE!! I can't even tell you how ECSTATIC she was and just couldn't believe that they were there!
This is me trying to "introduce" steph and andrew.

SuPRiSE!

The family
I made up a song to Mele Kalikimaka about my mom. Steph and my cousins sang it with me. Then Irene and Jeannie sang her another song about getting old. Irene gave her this cane as a joke gift!

Blowing her candles outCherades-Steph is taking my mom to Australia to dive and see the penquins next year when she comes home from Iraq. So, Her and Teresa did cherades for my mom to guess! It was pretty stinkin' funny! My mom and irene -opening presentsMom, Andrew and andrew's step sonMy Mom and her dancing girls!

My mom and best friend Julie-they have been friends since they were 3! Julie told us all sorts of fun things about when they were growing up! It was so fun to hear stories of my mom when she was little.
Tuesday-we went to the O'quirrh Temple Open House. None of us had church clothes so we weren't going to go but my brother and sister really wanted to go. So, it was either go in our "nice" street clothes or don't go. We went and it was AWESOME to see my brother with his family! The kids had many questions and it was so nice to be there with the family! They haven't been active for a long time and it was so good to be there with my family in the Lord's house! The Temple was gorgeous inside and out!
We were just missing Kevin. Andrew and his familyMe and my husband... I am so grateful to be sealed to this man! He is a wonderful husband and I am so thankful we have the priesthood in our home! I love you honey! We had an EXCELLENT time with the family! It was a short trip but I am so glad we were able to suprise my mom and spend some time with the family.
